Binaural Meditations
Binaural Meditations by Michael McGrath
Binaural Beats and the Art of Meditation.
Even those who have never heard of binaural beats have elementary knowledge of meditation though it may be slightly misguided.
Although meditation is becoming more popular in the western world it has been practised for thousands of years in the East. It is only recently that binaural beats have been used to create the same effect.
Meditation is believed to be a way of accessing our own inner minds to develop a connection with a Higher Power by many religions and spiritual teachers. But, it is not only used for religious or spiritual purposes.
Meditation may be a great way of discovering our spiritual nature and answering many of our internal questions but it has also been found to be a great physical healer. Scientific experiments have discovered that people who meditate live longer in better health, recover faster from illness and have better immune systems!
Because meditation can be used as a way of stilling the mind it has become extremely popular as a self improvement tool. Its ability to reduce stress has had a profound effect on many thousands of people and helped them to overcome illnesses, recovery faster after surgery and deal with deep-seated psychological issues.
As you can see learning meditation would have enormous benefits. However, there is one small problem! It takes decades to perfect it!
It has been known for some time that people who enter deep states of meditation exhibit very specific brainwave states. It is because of this knowledge and the discovery of how sound affects the brain that modern science was able to create binaural beats that could produce the same results.
As it has become more and more popular in the West, and due to our hectic fast-paced lifestyles science has come up with the answer to learning meditation that makes it impossible to fail. Anyone can now enter an immediate deep meditative state through Binaural Beats.
Binaural beats enter the scientific consciousness in 1839 when they were first discovered by Wilhelm Dove and then again in 1973 when Gerald Oster wrote an article in Scientific American about their affects on the brain and ability to create specific brainwaves.
Due to Oster's work and ongoing research we now have access to binaural beats recordings that can create states of meditation in just a few minutes.
To use sound for creating deep states of meditation it is necessary to have two tones that are different only in frequency. When these sounds are merged they create binaural beats in the brain. Let me explain.
These sounds are then used to create binaural beats in a very unique way. By sending one sound to one ear and the other sound to the other ear the brain creates a beat type effect to be heard. The illusion of hearing a beat that does not really exist has an amazing affect on the brain. These binaural beats create brainwaves that are the same frequency as the frequency difference between the two sounds.
This is how binaural beats can be used to create the very same state as a person who can enter deep states of meditation.
Even though using binaural beats will guarantee you succeefully enter deep states of meditation you may want to try it using a more traditional approach.
Although we use the word meditation to describe the state there are many different disciplines of meditation from chanting to breathing.
As we live in the 21st Century it seems only fitting that we use a 21st Century means of accessing the state of meditation. However, if you wish to experiment with this art right now you can do it by first relaxing, then closing your eyes and merely contemplating a particular problem in your life. As you begin to dissect this problem ask yourself questions and ask questions about the answers you are getting until you feel satisfied.
Meditation is like anything else in life - you can read about all you like but until you experience it, it is just theory. Try it for yourself. Get some binaural beats and start to experience the benefits of this ancient art with a new high-tech tool.
